Job summary

HB People Recruitment & HR Specialists is seeking an experienced HR Operations Manager in Manchester to lead HR contact for a portfolio of schools. The role involves advising managers on employment law, handling ER casework, and supporting recruitment and safer recruitment processes.

You will work on attendance management, occupational health, organisational change, and maintaining HR compliance. This position requires strong communication and prioritisation skills, with CIPD Level 5

Qualifications

• Experience as a generalist HR professional handling ER casework and advising managers.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and employment policies.
• Excellent communication and prioritisation skills.
• CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent experience, education-sector experience is useful but not essential.

HR Operations Manager

We're recruiting an experienced HR Operations Manager to join our client within the education sector. This is a varied, hands-on HR role where you'll act as the lead HR contact for a portfolio of schools, working closely with Headteachers and senior leaders to provide practical, commercially minded HR advice and support.

You'll manage a broad range of employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, capability, sickness absence, probation and conduct, coaching managers through both informal and formal processes.

The role will also include:

• Providing day-to-day HR advice on employment law, policies and terms & conditions
• Supporting recruitment and safer recruitment processes
• Managing attendance and Occupational Health processes
• Supporting organisational change and consultation
• Monitoring HR compliance and workforce information
• Producing and interpreting HR data and reports
• Managing and supporting HR Administrators to ensure an efficient and responsive HR service

About you

We're looking for an experienced generalist HR professional who is confident managing ER casework and advising managers at all levels. You'll have a good working knowledge of UK employment law, strong communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Ideally you'll be CIPD Level 5 qualified, part-qualified or able to demonstrate equivalent experience. Previous education-sector experience would be useful but is not essential.

This role has a designated base but involves regular planned travel between schools within the allocated portfolio, with approved travel expenses reimbursed.
