Job description

HR Advisor

Full Time 18-month Fixed Term Contract

Salary GBP35,000- GBP37,000 plus an excellent benefits package, including 39 days of annual leave (including statutory holidays) and a greatly enhanced pension scheme.

Location: Preston Area

Flexible and family-friendly working arrangements, including hybrid working (3 days on-site and 2 days from home).

I am partnering with a large and prestigious not-for-profit organization based in Lancashire to appoint an experienced HR Advisor for an 18-month fixed-term contract.

Reporting to an HR Business Partner and working closely with the Head of HR, you will support the HR team and various stakeholders with a wide range of generalist HR duties, including employee relations casework, HR MI, and reviewing HR policies and procedures.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure to HR strategy and organizational change within a large and diverse workforce, and to assist in complex employee relations casework.

Key Responsibilities for the HR Advisor:
  • Assist in delivering an efficient and effective HR support and advisory service to a wide range of departments and stakeholders.
  • Provide advice and guidance on occupational health referrals, absence management issues, and return-to-work cases to managers.
  • Support (under the direction of the HR Business Partner) on departmental restructures, including formal consultations with staff and trade unions, and provide advice on redeployment and redundancy issues.
  • Assist with managing complex employee relations cases, providing independent HR advice and support, including disciplinary, grievance, bullying and harassment, and sickness absence cases.
  • Maintain HR systems and processes such as recruitment, fixed-term contracts, redundancy, and case management, providing advice as needed.
  • Review and develop HR policies and procedures within the legal framework of employment legislation.
  • Prepare reports and analyze HR metrics/data accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement related to HR systems and policies.
Key Requirements for the HR Advisor:
  • Strong HR background with experience at a similar HR Advisor level.
  • Wide-ranging generalist HR experience, including managing employee relations casework, employment legislation, HR policies, and stakeholder management.
  • Ideally CIPD Level 5 qualified, but this is not essential.
  • Exposure to organizational change, restructures, redundancies, and liaising with trade unions is advantageous, but not essential.
  • Experience working in not-for-profit and/or public sector organizations is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels and with diverse stakeholders.
  • Confident, proactive problem-solver with a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Car driver and owner is preferred.

If you are interested in this HR Advisor role and believe your experience aligns with the criteria, please apply now for immediate consideration. For more information, contact Mark Croston.
