Job summary

The Society of St James is seeking a role-focused candidate to support adults experiencing homelessness and related needs in Southampton. You will manage a caseload, work with partner agencies, and help individuals improve living skills, sustain housing, and engage in education or meaningful activities.

We value safeguarding, partnership work, and empowering service users to live independently, while addressing complex issues including mental health and substance misuse.

Qualifications

• Experience/Knowledge of working with people with histories of homelessness, mental health problems and substance misuse.
• Experience of dealing with difficult and challenging behaviour.
• Understanding of the effects of alcohol and substance use on mental health.
• Understanding of equality and diversity, with respect to staff and service users.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and protection procedures and protocols for vulnerable adults.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of vulnerable individuals for whom homelessness or risk of homelessness is a real challenge.
• Motivate and support service users to improve daily living skills, retain and sustain accommodation, engage in meaningful occupation or learning opportunities.
• Promote empowerment and independence among service users.
• Work with partner agencies to support people and promote wellbeing.
• Collaborate with team in Southampton and liaise with external partners.
