Job summary

Wychavon District Council is recruiting a Housing Triage Assistant based in Pershore. This permanent role is 37 hours per week and covers Malvern and Wychavon districts.

You will be the first point of contact for customers seeking housing advice, assess homelessness risk, determine eligibility and signpost to other organisations while making referrals to the housing team. IT literacy and housing knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Be customer focused and dedicated to providing an excellent and timely service.
• Have the ability to advise and assist customers on all aspects of housing.
• Plan and prioritise their own workload to meet deadlines.
• Work closely with other team members to ensure optimum service delivery.
• Have a tactful and diplomatic approach in all situations.
• Communicate information in writing, face to face and by telephone and maintain accurate records.
• Be computer literate with the ability to utilise a range of software packages.
• Sound working knowledge of housing legislation and guidance.
• Post holder will apply for a basic DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Act as first point of contact for housing service queries at risk of homelessness and process approaches as part of triage.
• Provide initial advice on housing options and determine eligibility and homelessness.
• Signpost customers and make referrals to officers in the team.
• Work flexibly with other team members to deliver a timely service.
• Cover both Malvern and Wychavon districts.
