Job summary

Wychavon District Council is recruiting a Housing Options Advisor to join the homelessness team across Wychavon and Malvern Hills District Councils. This is a 37-hour-per-week, permanent role with a salary of £31,537–£35,412 per annum.

The successful candidate will interview those approaching the Council as homeless, work with clients to find housing solutions, and discharge statutory duties under the Housing Act 1996 Part VII and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.

Qualifications

• Customer-focused with experience in housing or customer service
• Experience in a housing or homelessness context is desirable
• Team-oriented with ability to work collaboratively
• Good IT and computer skills required
• Ability to devise creative improvements for service delivery
• Ability to manage a varied workload
• Calm and caring when dealing with difficult situations
• Previous similar role experience preferred
• Strong numeracy and literacy skills
• Detailed knowledge of housing-related legislation
• Excellent working knowledge of office computer systems

Responsibilities

• Interview clients approaching the Council as homeless
• Work with clients to find housing solutions
• Administer and discharge statutory duties under housing legislation
• Write letters confirming duties and ends of duties
• Liaise with statutory and non-statutory agencies to prevent or relieve homelessness
• Provide housing advice tailored to client needs
