Job summary

Cumberland Council is seeking a Housing Technical Officer to deliver technical services across the Cumberland area. You will assess properties for Disabled Facilities Grants and prepare costed schedules of works, coordinating with contractors and customers.

The role involves leading stakeholder meetings, overseeing work quality and signing off completed projects to enable payments and budget approval. This is a 12-month temporary contract based at Allerdale House, Workington.

Housing Technical Officer

Salary: £38,220 to £39,152 per annum

Hours: 37 Hours Per Week

Location: Allerdale House, Workington

Contract: Temporary (12 Months)

About this opportunity
  • To provide services of a technical or specialist nature on behalf of the Council across the west and south of the Cumberland administrative area.
  • The technical officer will provide a specialist technical and case management role that includes inspection and assessment of properties to facilitate Disabled Facilities Grants where grant applications have been received and meet the requirements of the Occupations Therapist ' s recommendations
  • The role will be responsible for preparing a costed schedule of works, specifying items to be grant aided and liaise with contractors on behalf of customers where requested.
  • This post holder will take the lead role in facilitating regular meetings with key stakeholders, have over-sight of works and meet with contractors to monitor and manage performance and quality of works that are being undertaken by the Contractor.
  • The post holder will take responsibility for signing off completed works and prepare paperwork to enable the budget holder to approve and authorise payments.
