Job summary

Shropshire Council is seeking a housing support officer to join our Temporary Accommodation scheme in Bridgnorth. You will work on-site with a team to support individuals and households across the south of the county, guiding them from temporary housing towards settled home ownership.

You will collaborate with the Housing Options Team to identify barriers such as mental health, substance misuse, domestic abuse, debt, and employment, using a person-centred approach during times of crisis.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively with households from diverse backgrounds.
• Person-centred approach to support and empowerment.
• Able to work under pressure in crisis situations and manage caseloads.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted housing support to homeless households within temporary accommodation.
• Support households to progress their homelessness case and identify barriers (mental health, substance misuse, domestic abuse, debt, employment).
• Assist households to become tenancy ready and move into settled accommodation.
