Job summary

South Gloucestershire Council is seeking a Housing Officer based in Kingswood to manage a portfolio of private sector accommodation for homeless households. You will support tenants to sustain tenancies and achieve positive housing outcomes.

You will handle lettings, rents, repairs, inspections, and landlord liaison, visiting tenants and signposting to services as needed. A customer-focused approach and strong problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience of housing management and delivering effective housing services.
• Experience of supporting vulnerable people and working with diverse communities.
• Knowledge of landlord and tenant responsibilities and housing legislation.
• Strong communication and relationship-building with tenants, landlords, and partners.
• Strong problem-solving skills to identify issues and find practical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of property management, lettings, rents, repairs, and inspections.
• Maintain regular contact with tenants to address concerns and signpost to services.
• Promote the service to prospective landlords and grow private sector accommodation.
• Work with landlords and HomeChoice Service to meet housing needs.
• Undertake administrative duties and ensure tenancy docs are completed accurately.
• Visit tenants at home to provide support and monitor tenancy arrangements.
