Job summary

BCP Council's Housing and Protection team seeks a Housing Options Officer on a 12-month fixed-term contract in Bournemouth. The role blends office, community and home working with hybrid and flexible options, face-to-face customer contact, and a clear pay band progression.

You will advise residents with housing difficulties, including homelessness, manage a caseload, and work with partners to find lasting solutions, with Right to work in the UK required and fluent English essential.

Qualifications

• Experience of advice or problem-solving work with people.
• Strong communication to understand customer needs and resolve housing situations.
• Ability to balance a caseload with competing demands.
• Ability to work with residents, services and colleagues to reach lasting solutions.
• Understanding of homelessness prevention and support.

Responsibilities

• Give housing advice and support to residents with housing problems.
• Help people in complex or difficult situations, including homelessness.
• Understand and work on homelessness prevention, acting early to prevent housing crisis.
• Understand each customer's needs and tailor help to resolve their housing situation.
• Take a holistic approach to customers' problems.
• Manage a caseload within competing demands.
• Work with residents, other services and colleagues to find lasting solutions.
• Work in the office, in the community and at home, including face-to-face contact with customers.
