Job summary

Wokingham Borough Council is hiring a housing advisor to provide comprehensive housing advice to households presenting as homeless or at risk of homelessness. You will assess cases, prevent homelessness, and manage a caseload of applications with personalised housing plans.

Collaborating with the Rough Sleeping Outreach Team, you will help reduce rough sleeping and support households to secure suitable accommodation in the borough.

Qualifications

• Educated to GCSE Maths and English (C or above) or equivalent.
• Experience of providing housing advice and assistance.
• Good IT skills including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Good understanding of housing options available to households in the borough.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive housing advice to homeless or threatened households.
• Assess households and take action to prevent homelessness.
• Manage a caseload of homelessness applications and support personalised housing plans.
• Work with Rough Sleeping Outreach Team to reduce rough sleeping.
