Job summary

Wokingham Borough Council is recruiting for a Housing Advice role based at Shute End, Wokingham. The position focuses on preventing homelessness, assessing cases, and managing personalised housing plans to help households secure accommodation.

The role involves collaboration with outreach teams to reduce rough sleeping and ensure statutory compliance. DBS Enhanced checks apply, with a permanent, full-time contract.

Qualifications

GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent).
Experience providing housing advice and assistance.
Good IT skills including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
Good understanding of housing options in the borough.

Responsibilities

To provide comprehensive housing advice and assistance to households who present as homeless or threatened with homelessness.
To assess all households who approach as homeless or threatened with homelessness and take action to prevent homelessness.
To manage a caseload of homelessness applications and support households to actions in their personalised housing plan.
To work with the Rough Sleeping Outreach Team to reduce rough sleeping in the borough.
