Job summary

Birmingham City Council is seeking a proactive Repairs Contracts Works Officer to manage responsive repairs, maintenance and capital works across housing stock in the North of Birmingham. The role acts as a technical and operational link between contractors, internal teams and residents to ensure works are completed to programme, budget and required standards.

The post involves hybrid and lone working; applicants must have a relevant building/construction qualification and experience in housing

Qualifications

• A relevant qualification in building, construction (e.g. ONC/D, BTEC in Construction, Building Surveying, Building Services, or demonstrable equivalent)
• Knowledge of housing repairs legislation, building maintenance standards, and landlord compliance responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Support the management and monitoring of repairs and maintenance contracts to ensure compliance with legislation, policy and contractor obligations.
• Diagnose building defects and specify solutions with technical accuracy.
• Communicate effectively with contractors, internal teams and residents to coordinate works.
• Monitor contract performance, KPIs, service delivery and contractor compliance.
• Maintain accurate records, reports and documentation to support audits and compliance.
• Support health and safety processes related to repairs and maintenance works.
