Providing correct and consistent advice is paramount and your attention to and knowledge of the relevant housing legislation especially the Homeless Reduction Act 2017 codes of guidance are essential to ensuring the right advice and accommodation is secured for households when they really need it.
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Housing Solutions Team to recruit a Housing Options Officer to ensure we are fully compliant with the new duties under the Homeless Reduction Act 2017.
Reporting to the Housing Solutions Supervisor you will work with households who are homeless or are at risk of homelessness. You will be responsible for interviewing, assessing and identifying preventions whilst overseeing the day-to-day operation of the team. You will be working with external partners, agencies and other internal sections that will improve outcomes for individuals and families.
Good interpersonal skills, empathy and sound judgement are essential in this role. You will need to be organised and self-motivated but also a good team player. The work in this service area can be difficult and stressful and you must be non-judgmental towards customers.
Due to the post having access to children and/or vulnerable adults, candidates will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.
