We are currently looking to appoint a Private Landlord & Supported Accommodation Liaison Officer to join our Housing Solutions Team on a fixed-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to some of the most vulnerable people in our district.

You will work with landlords, tenants, letting agents, and organizations to increase access to private rented accommodation and help to increase housing supply in the private rented sector to meet the demand of increased homeless households in the district.

You will help provide a comprehensive tenancy relations service, advice, and assistance to private sector residents including tenants, sub-tenants, licensees, owner-occupiers, and housing association tenants. You will also assist applicants in determining and advising on the validity of notices served on tenants and take a proactive role in resolving threats of eviction.

This will help sustain tenancies by ensuring the correct agencies are involved and support is in place, working with other departments within the Council as well as external partners such as the Police, Social Services, voluntary and statutory agencies, and support services funded by the homelessness prevention grant.

The successful candidate will also have an understanding of the barriers faced by residents in supported accommodation and will work to increase the quality and supply of supported accommodation across the South Derbyshire area.

You will be working across a multi-disciplinary team including Environmental Health, Planning, Housing Solutions, Community Safety, and Housing Benefits. You will act as a point of contact within the partnership area.

You need to be confident, self-motivated, with strong interpersonal and influencing skills, and a proven ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues, partners, and residents.

Experience in support, housing, social care, or benefits is required. Ideally, you will have a broad understanding of supported accommodation and experience working with homeless people or those with complex needs.
