Job summary

Qualifications

• Recent experience as a Housing Options Officer or similar.
• Knowledge of Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
• Experience in assessing homelessness duties and eligibility.
• Ability to create Personal Housing Plans.
• Strong interviewing and communication skills.
• Experience with vulnerable populations.
• CIH qualification or equivalent in housing.
• Experience in Local Authority Housing Solutions Team.
• Familiar with housing allocations and welfare benefits.
• Experience with rough sleepers and single homelessness.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the initial contact for individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
• Perform triage and comprehensive housing needs assessments.
• Evaluate eligibility, homelessness status, priority needs, and interim accommodation duties (Section 188).
• Offer advice on homelessness prevention and housing options.
• Complete Full Housing Assessments (FHAs).
• Create and implement Personal Housing Plans (PHPs).
• Negotiate with landlords, family members, and support agencies to avert homelessness.
• Provide personalized advice and support tailored to individual needs.
• Handle a diverse caseload in line with legislation and guidance.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to achieve positive outcomes.
• Identify and address safeguarding concerns appropriately.
• Maintain detailed case records and documentation.
• Contribute to reducing homelessness and reliance on temporary housing.

Summary
