Job summary

Albyn Housing Society in the Highlands is seeking a Housing Officer to deliver high-quality housing services, support tenants, sustain communities and ensure compliance with housing legislation.

You will work across Allocations and Housing Options or Tenancy Sustainment, manage a varied caseload, build positive relationships with tenants and partners, and contribute to service improvements while upholding Albyn’s values.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a customer-focused environment.
  • Knowledge of Scottish housing legislation and tenancy management.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and deliver results.
  • Good working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to work proactively and collaboratively.
  • Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle.

Contract Terms

35 hours per week (full time), permanent (x2)

Salary

£41,904- £46,015, Grade E4-E1 + car allowance. Salary placing will normally be at the first point of the scale.

Location

Invergordon/Inverness with hybrid working (regular attendance to the office will be required)

As a Housing Officer, you will play a key role in delivering excellent housing services, supporting tenants, sustaining communities and ensuring compliance with housing legislation and regulatory requirements.

Tenancy Operations

Our Tenancy Operations team deliver a comprehensive housing management service across a range of tenancy-related functions, including:

  • Allocations and void management
  • Tenancy and estate management
  • Anti-social behaviour case management
  • Investigating and responding to customer enquiries and complaints
  • Supporting tenants throughout their tenancy journey
  • Resolving tenancy and neighbourhood issues
  • Delivering high-quality customer-focused services in line with Scottish housing legislation and regulatory requirements

This role is ideal for someone with housing management experience who enjoys managing a varied caseload and working directly with customers to sustain successful tenancies.

Tenancy Sustainment

Our Tenancy Sustainment team focus on helping tenants successfully establish and maintain their tenancies by:

  • Supporting customers moving into their homes
  • Providing advice and guidance on tenancy obligations, welfare systems and housing-related matters
  • Assisting customers whose personal circumstances may affect their tenancy
  • Investigating and responding to customer enquiries and complaints
  • Working collaboratively with internal and external partners to support positive customer outcomes
  • Delivering high-quality customer-focused services in line with Scottish housing legislation and regulatory requirements

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys supporting customers, problem-solving and helping people maintain successful tenancies.

You will:

We’re looking for someone with…
  • Experience of working in a customer focused environment.
  • Knowledge of Scottish housing legislation, tenancy management, and welfare systems.
  • The ability to demonstrate a commitment to achieving successful performance results and working to deadlines.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • The ability to work proactively and collaboratively.
  • Full UK Driving licence with access to a vehicle

This position offers a mix of office and remote working, along with site visits across the Highlands.

The role includes a requirement to participate in the out‑of‑hours cover rota, providing support outside of normal working hours when required. This commitment is expected to be approximately three times per year and will be planned in advance wherever possible.
