Job summary

Yorkshire Housing is seeking a Housing Officer for a 6 month fixed term contract to deliver a customer‑obsessed lettings service across Selby & East Riding. You’ll be out and about, building relationships with customers and partners to provide timely, practical advice.

You’ll bring experience across the tenancy lifecycle, strong communication and the ability to spot when someone needs extra support, while keeping clear records and working with internal teams to achieve the right outcomes.

Qualifications

• Customer obsession: you place customers first with empathy and fair, consistent decisions.
• Experience across the tenancy lifecycle: lettings, sign-ups, settling-in, tenancy changes, sustainment and endings.
• Triage multiple priorities, plan your day and adapt quickly as needs change.
• Clear, kind communication face-to-face, by phone and in writing.
• Partnership working: build strong relationships with colleagues, local partners and agencies.
• Accurate records and case notes with the right systems and policies.
• Willingness and ability to travel across Yorkshire.

Responsibilities

• Welcome new customers well and deliver a lettings experience from pre-tenancy to sign-ups.
• Provide pre-tenancy information including welfare benefits and promote rent on time.
• Onboard new customers with care and resolve early issues quickly and fairly.
• Identify vulnerable customers and refer to appropriate internal/external help.
• Spend time in communities, building relationships and gathering insights for local plans.
