Job summary

Niyaa People is recruiting on behalf of a well‑established housing organisation to hire a Housing Officer covering Greenham, Basingstoke and surrounding areas. The role blends home working, office duties and regular site visits to manage tenancy and neighbourhood caseloads.

Qualifications

• Experience or strong knowledge of housing, tenancy or neighbourhood management.
• Experience managing a busy caseload through to resolution.
• Confidence dealing with complex, sensitive or challenging situations.
• Strong knowledge of tenancy management and housing‑related issues.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship‑building skills.
• A customer‑focused approach and a commitment to achieving positive outcomes.
• The ability to work effectively with colleagues and external partner agencies.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and housing management systems.
• The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload covering tenancy and neighbourhood management.
• Deal with tenancy breaches, anti‑social behaviour, safeguarding, tenancy fraud and tenancy changes.
• Investigate issues, gather evidence and take appropriate action.
• Progress legal or formal enforcement action where required.
• Build positive relationships with customers and support tenancy sustainment.
• Work collaboratively with local authorities, community groups and partner agencies.
• Visit customers, neighbourhoods and properties across Greenham, Basingstoke and the surrounding areas.
• Maintain accurate customer records and case information.
• Identify opportunities to improve neighbourhoods and customer outcomes.
• Manage your own diary and prioritise a busy workload effectively.
