Role Description

The Housing Officer is a full-time, hybrid role based in the City of Bristol, with the flexibility to work from home for part of the week. The role involves managing a caseload of supported living properties, acting as the primary contact for tenants, families, and support providers on housing-related matters. Day-to-day tasks include responding to tenant enquiries, addressing tenancy and neighbourhood issues, coordinating repairs and maintenance, and ensuring properties meet health, safety, and accessibility standards. The Housing Officer will liaise with local authorities, commissioners, and partner organizations to support effective tenancy management and contribute to the development of new housing solutions. The role also includes conducting property visits, maintaining accurate records, monitoring compliance with policies and regulations, and supporting continuous improvement in the tenant experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in housing management or social housing, including tenancy management, property inspections, and dealing with repairs and maintenance issues.
• Knowledge of supported living, learning disabilities, autism, and mental health, with an understanding of person-centered approaches and safeguarding responsibilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with tenants, families, advocates, and partner organizations.
• Organizational and problem-solving skills, including managing a varied caseload, prioritizing work, and resolving complex tenancy or neighbourhood issues.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, using digital tools and systems for record-keeping, reporting, and remote collaboration.
• Awareness of relevant housing legislation, regulatory requirements, and health and safety standards in a supported living context.
• Empathy, resilience, and a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, with a customer-focused approach to service delivery.
• Relevant qualification in housing, social care, or a related field (or equivalent experience); a full driving licence and willingness to travel locally for property visits is beneficial.
