As the role involves regular travel across Wigtownshire, Dumfries and Galloway, you must hold a full UK driving licence and be able to drive.
As a Housing Officer, you will be a visible and familiar presence in our communities, delivering excellent, right-first-time services and personalised solutions for customers. You will manage a wide range of housing services, including neighbourhood and arrears management, lettings, anti-social behaviour, adaptations and tenancy matters. Working closely with customers, colleagues, contractors and partner agencies, you will resolve issues, improve customer satisfaction and help maintain attractive, vibrant communities. You will also contribute to strong performance, continuous improvement, value for money and compliance with tenancy conditions, policies and regulatory requirements.
We are looking for someone who is customer-focused, proactive and confident working independently in local communities. You will be an excellent communicator and listener, able to build trusted relationships, work collaboratively with partner agencies and find practical, creative solutions for customers, including those with complex needs. You should be organised, self-motivated and comfortable managing competing priorities while taking responsibility for performance and continuous improvement. Strong IT skills and the ability to represent Wheatley positively are essential. Experience in a housing or similar customer-facing role is desirable, along with a Chartered Institute of Housing level 3 qualification, an equivalent qualification or a commitment to work towards one.
