Job summary

Caredig in Swansea is seeking a Community Housing Officer to join our experienced housing team. You will support tenants to sustain their homes and place tenants at the centre of your work, delivering high-quality tenancy management, empty homes, customer service, and community safety.

You will assess new tenants, arrange accommodation, carry out home visits, and work closely with the housing team to ensure tenants are supported.

Qualifications

• Driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Previous experience working in a housing environment.
• Knowledge of tenancy management and housing services.

Responsibilities

• Assess and interview potential new tenants and allocate all empty homes in accordance with the Caredig’s policies and procedures.
• Identify any support requirements for new and existing tenants and signpost to an appropriate service.
• Undertake a new tenancy visit after commencement of tenancy to all new tenants.
• Receive payments of rent ensuring all monies received are properly receipted
• Deal with instances of anti-social behaviour and other breaches of tenancy conditions acting in line with the organisation’s policies and procedures.
• Line manages housing services advisors in line with the organisation’s policy.

Hours: 35 hours per week

Salary: £34,760 per annum

Essential: Driving licence and access to a vehicle

About the Role

As a Community Housing Officer, you will be part of a team of Community Housing Officers and support the delivery of high-quality tenancy management, empty homes, customer service, and community safety services. You will work closely with tenants and the housing team to ensure tenants are always supported. As part of your role you will assess new tenants, arrange accommodation when necessary and carry out home visits.

Key responsibilities include:

About You

To succeed as a Community Housing Officer, you will have experience working within housing, social housing, or the third sector.

You will also have:

Knowledge of housing management and tenancy-related services

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills

The ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions

A customer-focused and compassionate approach

A full driving licence and access to a vehicle
