Job summary

Manchester Metropolitan University is seeking an experienced Housekeeping Supervisor to lead a team and ensure clean, safe, welcoming accommodation for students. You will coordinate workloads with the Duty Manager, monitor performance, and maintain service standards across multiple properties during routine operations and busy periods.

The role requires supervisory experience, strong organisational and communication skills, and a commitment to customer service and staff development.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising teams in a customer-focused setting.
• Proven ability to manage performance and workloads.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise.
• Knowledge of housekeeping operations and health & safety rules.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Experience monitoring stock levels and coordinating supplies.
• Commitment to delivering outstanding customer service and staff development.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support the Housekeeping Team in delivering a high-quality and consistent cleaning service.
• Monitor housekeeping standards and ensure service level agreements are achieved.
• Conduct regular team briefings, one-to-one meetings, and on-the-job training.
• Assist with staff rota planning and the allocation of duties.
• Support stock control, ordering, and resource management.
• Carry out inspections, including within occupied properties, of staff and landlord areas, and end-of-tenancy checks.
• Promote a positive team culture focused on customer service, continuous improvement, and health & safety compliance.
• Ensure effective use of PPE, COSHH compliance, and adherence to operational procedures.
