Job summary

Canterbury Cathedral Lodge seeks a friendly Receptionist for a fixed term maternity cover. You will provide a first class hotel-style reception service, handling reservations, guest billing, and payments, while assisting guests to feel welcome and valued.

The role requires flexibility to cover variable days and hours, with the ability to work single-handed shifts and support other departments when needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar position.
• Strong administrative background.
• Excellent IT skills, especially the use of M365 Outlook and Word.
• Understanding of the aims and purposes of the Cathedral, its mission and ministry.
• With or studying for a degree.
• Experience in the use of databases, in particular Excel and Access.
• Current First Aid certificate.

Responsibilities

• Provide a first class service at all times, offering a sincere welcome to all guests.
• Take and confirm reservations and handle guest billing.
• Operate the telephone switchboard and manage reception shifts.
• Use computerised billing for guest accounts and balance daily takings.
• Assist guests with luggage and show them to their rooms.
• Liaise with other departments and support Banqueting and Events as required.
