Job summary

Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our hospital pharmacy team. The role focuses on ward-based medicines management, accuracy checking in the dispensary, and contributing to medicines optimisation across specialties.

The successful candidate will work with pharmacy colleagues to ensure timely supply of medications from admission to discharge and support Clinical Pharmacists and Senior Pharmacy Technicians in a ward-based service.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 3 with BTEC underpinning knowledge in pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent.
• Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) (At time of applying Pre-registration Pharmacy technicians MUST be due to qualify/register in four months or less)
• Accredited checking qualification (or willing to work towards)
• NHSEngland Medicines Optimisation Modules 1-7
• CPPE The community Pharmacy technician: advancing your role programme
• CPPE Mental Health

Responsibilities

• Provide ward based medicines management services and accuracy checking in the dispensary.
• Work with pharmacy colleagues to supply medications from admission to discharge.
• Competently clinically check an array of medication from various order forms.
• Assist the Clinical Pharmacists and Senior Pharmacy Technicians in ward-based medicines optimisation service.
• Deliver the technical clinical pharmacy service and promote medicines optimisation across specialties under the Lead Pharmacy Technician.
• Promote a positive image of people with mental health conditions and learning disabilities.
