Job summary

Equans is seeking a Maintenance Assistant based at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth. The role is permanent, full-time, 37.5 hours weekly with a shift pattern including days, evenings and weekends. Salary £27,000–£28,500 per annum plus a fixed monthly unsocial allowance of £233 and benefits.

The role supports Estates Management, aims to deliver quality maintenance, and requires NVQ in maintenance or equivalent. DBS check required and full UK right to work.

Qualifications

• NVQ in maintenance or similar equivalent experience.
• Experience with building maintenance and systems.
• Basic competence with IT and PDAs.
• Desirable: experience in a hospital environment.
• Desirable: knowledge of HTMs.

Responsibilities

• Support Estates Management in providing a 24hr maintenance service.
• Promote customer service with internal/external customers and liaise with other departments.
• Undertake other reasonable tasks and duties.
• Diagnose faults, repair and maintain complex equipment per HTMs.
• Carry out work of other trades when interfacing with current tasks.
• Carry a radio or pager for immediate response.
• Work in challenging conditions, including drains/sewers and biological hazards.
• Replace lamps and clean light fittings.
• Carrying out cleaning, labouring and driving tasks as instructed
• Observe Health & Safety, COSHH, and Electrical IEE regulations.
