Job summary

Equans is seeking a Maintenance Assistant for a permanent, full-time position at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. You will work 37.5 hours per week within the Estates Department, performing a range of maintenance tasks and supporting electrical and plumbing work as required.

The role requires prior experience in building maintenance and the ability to work with minimal supervision. A DBS check is essential, with opportunities for training and career development provided by Equans.

Qualifications

• Experience in building maintenance environment.
• Experience in electrical or mechanical discipline.
• Able to pass DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and work from instructions, drawings, and specifications with supervision.
• Perform range of work to skill level: lamping, unblocking toilets, fire alarm testing, fault-finding on non-complex equipment, assist in electrical/plumbing/building installation work.
• Manufacture, assemble and install new work as appropriate to skill level.
• Understand Estates Department operations to work efficiently and proactively.
• Use relevant tools and equipment as appropriate to skill level.
• Learn new techniques with training, including procedures for releasing trapped persons in lifts and ladder inspections.
• Carry out unsupervised minor maintenance and report defects or delays to Supervisor.
• Ensure Planned Preventative Maintenance is carried out per maintenance instructions.
