Job summary

Southern Hospice Group operates three hospices and supports shops and distribution centres across Sussex. The shop manager role focuses on leading staff and volunteers, handling stock and daily cash, and promoting Gift Aid to help fund hospice care.

You will ensure a safe, welcoming shop environment, work to keep the shop financially and commercially successful, and assume full responsibility in the absence of the manager after induction training.

Qualifications

• Energetic and sociable, with ability to work with people and volunteers
• Good numeracy and cash handling skills are desirable
• Comfortable taking responsibility in the manager's absence after induction

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing a team of staff and volunteers
• Stock control, daily cash handling and banking
• Promote and capture Gift Aid on donations
• Ensure the shop and site are safe and secure
• Take responsibility for all aspects of the business in the absence of the manager after full induction training
