Job summary

Southern Hospice Group operates a network of shops and distribution centres that fund our compassionate care across Sussex. We are seeking a proactive Retail Shop Manager with passion for fashion and homewares, capable of leading staff and volunteers, driving income, and maintaining excellent customer service.

You will oversee stock, Gift Aid, cash handling, and safety, while delivering on deadlines and maintaining accuracy.

Qualifications

• GCSE level or equivalent or qualified by experience.
• Proven leadership experience.
• Retail experience in charity, fashion or hospitality sectors.
• Retail management experience with budget accountability.
• Good interpersonal skills with ability to motivate and influence individuals and teams.
• Able to interact and collaborate effectively to support colleagues and other departments.
• Good written and verbal communications skills with the ability to give written and verbal instructions effectively.
• Able to communicate confidently with a wide range of people and with sensitivity.
• Able to assess situations and defuse conflict positively.
• A team player with the ability to work on own initiative.
• Able to respond positively to changing demands.
• Able to deliver on deadlines, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• A valid UK driving licence and the ability to travel frequently across the catchment area for the hospice.

Responsibilities

• Using people skills to help deliver income to the hospice.
• Help to deliver excellent customer service and support.
• Manage a team of staff and volunteers.
• Oversee stock control and Gift Aid capture.
• Handle daily cash and banking processes.
• Ensure staff, volunteers, shop and site are safe and secure.
• Keep the shop attractive and engaging for customers.
• Take responsibility for all business aspects after induction training.
