Job summary

Southern Hospice Group operates three hospices and supports shops and distribution centres across Sussex. The shop manager role focuses on leading staff and volunteers, handling stock and daily cash, and promoting Gift Aid to help fund hospice care.

You will ensure a safe, welcoming shop environment, work to keep the shop financially and commercially successful, and assume full responsibility in the absence of the manager after induction training.

Qualifications

• Energetic and sociable, with ability to work with people and volunteers
• Good numeracy and cash handling skills are desirable
• Comfortable taking responsibility in the manager's absence after induction

Job description

Southern Hospice Group offers specialist palliative care through three hospices: Martlets adult hospice in Hove, St Barnabas House adult hospice in Worthing and Chestnut Tree House children's hospice near Arundel in Sussex. Our Shops and Distribution Centres provide one of our most important revenue streams and offer quality items and a friendly service. You'll be Using people skills to help deliver income to the hospice. Helping to give excellent customer service, assisting in managing a team of staff and volunteers, stock control, promoting and capturing Gift Aid, daily cash handling and banking, ensuring the staff, volunteers, the shop and the site are safe and secure. You will be energetic and love variety and keeping our shop commercial and appealing. You will have responsibility for all aspects of the business in the absence of the manager after full induction training.
