Job summary

Carrington Blake Recruitment is seeking a Housing Solutions Officer in Wales to join a Housing Solutions & Prevention Service. You will provide frontline housing advice and homelessness prevention services to households who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

The role requires practical experience under the Housing (Wales) Act 2014 and the ability to make statutory homelessness decisions. You will assess applications, manage Personal Housing Plans, explore housing options, and work with

Qualifications

Substantial practical experience within homelessness/housing solutions.
Experience working under the Housing (Wales) Act 2014.
Experience undertaking homelessness assessments and investigations.
Experience making statutory homelessness decisions.
Knowledge of Sections 66, 73 and 75 duties.
Experience producing clear, legally compliant homelessness decision letters.
Experience managing a busy homelessness caseload.
Knowledge of housing legislation, case law and private sector tenancy legislation.
Experience of homelessness prevention and tenancy sustainment.
Experience with vulnerable households and complex cases.

Responsibilities

Assess homelessness applications and determine statutory duties owed by the Council.
Apply the Housing (Wales) Act 2014 including Section 66, 73 and 75 duties.
Provide housing advice and practical support to households homeless or at risk.
Conduct homelessness interviews and investigations gathering information from applicants and third parties.
Develop and manage Personal Housing Plans with applicants.
Provide advice on housing options, eligibility and rehousing prospects.
Take proactive action to prevent homelessness and sustain accommodation.
Negotiate with landlords and other parties to prevent loss of accommodation.
Promote suitable private rented sector options as alternatives.
Manage caseload ensuring progress within statutory timescales.
Make well-reasoned statutory homelessness decisions and draft decision letters.
Explain decisions to applicants and rights to review.
Identify need for temporary/emergency accommodation and arrange placements.
Identify safeguarding concerns and make referrals where required.
Maintain accurate case records and record outcomes on Abritas.
Collaborate with Children’s Services, Supporting People, Probation, hospitals and voluntary organisations.
Undertake home visits and outreach as required.
Assist with Common Housing Register applications and rehousing prospects.
Participate in duty rota and respond to inquiries promptly.
