Job summary

Brent Council is seeking an experienced leader to manage the Specialist Homelessness Service, directing a frontline team supporting families and pregnant people facing homelessness. The role requires strong housing options knowledge, decision-making, and a commitment to prevention and statutory duties.

You will oversee service delivery, develop staff, and ensure high-quality, person-centred support while working within a London borough known for diversity and a strong local government ethos.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of homelessness legislation and case law.
• Hands-on experience in preventing homelessness and making statutory decisions.
• Strong understanding of prevention strategies and housing pathways.
• Proven experience in leading and managing a successful team.
• Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a team delivering high-quality support to families, some of whom have complex needs.
• Guide officers in assessing cases, identifying tailored housing solutions, and managing service user expectations.
• Ensure compliance with homelessness legislation, leading on statutory decisions and prevention strategies.
• Foster a flexible, person-centred approach, recognizing that every household’s needs are unique.
• Lead, develop, and inspire your team, ensuring they have the skills and confidence to deliver exceptional outcomes.
