Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced Homelessness Prevention Officer to join a Hampshire Local Authority on a 3-month contract. You will manage your own caseload and conduct housing options assessments with a person-centred approach, working to prevent homelessness wherever possible.

The role requires strong homelessness casework, sound knowledge of housing legislation, and the ability to handle complex cases.

Qualifications

• Experience in homelessness casework.
• Excellent knowledge of housing legislation.
• Ability to confidently manage complex cases.
• Trauma-informed approach when supporting customers.

Responsibilities

• Manage your own caseload and complete detailed housing options and support needs assessments.
• Work proactively with individuals and families at risk of homelessness to prevent homelessness where possible.
• Make statutory homelessness decisions in accordance with Housing Act 1996 and HRA 2017.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners, including accommodation providers and safety/support services.
