Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced Homelessness Prevention Officer to join a Hampshire Local Authority on a 3-month contract. You will manage your own caseload and conduct housing options assessments with a person-centred approach, working to prevent homelessness wherever possible.

The role requires strong homelessness casework, sound knowledge of housing legislation, and the ability to handle complex cases.

Contract: 3 months

Rate: £25.71 per hour (Umbrella)

Hybrid Working: 3 days per week in the office

We are currently seeking an experienced Homelessness Prevention Officer to join a Local Authority in Hampshire on an initial 3-month contract.

Working within the Homelessness Prevention Team, you will manage your own caseload and take a person-centred approach to completing detailed housing options and support needs assessments. You will work proactively with individuals and families at risk of homelessness, taking appropriate action to prevent homelessness wherever possible.

You will also be responsible for making statutory homelessness decisions in accordance with Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 (HRA).

The role involves close collaboration with internal teams and external partners, including accommodation providers, community safety teams and other support services. You will use a trauma-informed approach when supporting customers, many of whom may have multiple and complex vulnerabilities.

The successful candidate will have strong homelessness casework experience, excellent knowledge of relevant housing legislation and the ability to confidently manage complex cases.
