Job summary

THE SINGLE HOMELESS PROJECT in Hackney seeks a Caseworker for our Single Homeless Prevention Service (SHPS). You will manage a caseload, develop Personal Housing Plans and help clients access private rented accommodation to prevent homelessness.

You will work closely with Hackney Housing Options, turning assessments into practical support while building lasting relationships with landlords and partners, enabling sustainable housing outcomes.

Qualifications

• Navigate the private rented sector and understand housing legislation shaping client options.
• Turn conversations into clear, purposeful, co-produced support plans.
• Organised and responsive, manage a busy caseload with deadlines and priorities.
• Build relationships with housing, statutory and voluntary sector partners to unlock outcomes.
• Demonstrate persistence, empathy and a strengths-based approach with clients.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of clients referred to SHPS in Hackney and turn assessments into action.
• Develop Personal Housing Plans and identify realistic housing solutions.
• Support access to private rented accommodation with persistence and negotiation.
• Balance priorities, maintain momentum, and safeguard and assess risks as needed.
• Collaborate with landlords, housing colleagues and agencies to sustain tenancies.
