Job summary

GreenSquareAccord in Birmingham is recruiting a Homeless / Ex Offender Support Worker to provide tenancy-related support to homeless ex-offenders from our Selly Park accommodation project and in community settings. You will work to resettle clients, uphold confidentiality, and collaborate with partners to reduce re-offending and promote safer communities.

The role requires a rolling rota including weekends/bank holidays, with approximate 6–7 sleep-ins per month paid at £97.24 each, and a DBS

Qualifications

  • Experience and knowledge of ex-offenders and vulnerable people.
  • Ability to work in a small team or loneworking a must.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and accurate record keeping.
  • Full Driving Licence and access to own car is essential.
  • Able to work rolling rota including weekends/bank holidays; sleep-ins paid.

Responsibilities

  • Based at Selly Park accommodation project providing tenancy support to homeless ex-offenders.
  • Support ex-offenders in the community to tenancy sustainment.
  • Provide person-centred support to resettle clients back into the community.
  • Complete essential support tasks while maintaining boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Participate in a 4-week rolling rota including weekends and bank holidays with sleep-ins paid.

Job description

Job Title – Homeless / Ex Offender Support Worker

Location – Birmingham, B29 7JS

Salary – £13.74 per hour

Contract type – Permanent

Working hours – Full Time – 35 hours – Sleep in shifts required

Shift Patterns – Early – 07.30 – 14.30, Mid – 08.30 – 17.00, Afternoon/ evening – 15.00 – 23.00 – sleep in – 23.00 – 07.30

  • Additional Sleep-in allowance £108.00 per sleep in – 7/8 Sleep ins required per month – Get paid for sleeping!
About the Service

GreenSquareAccord has delivered offender-based services for over 60 years in the West Midlands. We are recognised as the leading organisation to support and house offenders in Birmingham. You will join a highly experienced and established team as part of the overall city‑wide Birmingham Scheme. Our long‑standing effective relationships with West Midlands Police and Probation Service helps us to continue to offer the very best tenancy related support to those involved in the criminal justice system.

In your new role, you will:
  • The post is based in our Selly Park accommodation project offering tenancy related support to homeless ex‑offenders. There will be opportunities to work in the community to support ex‑offenders within their own tenancies.
  • Provide person‑centred support to our clients to resettle them back into the community; leading to fulfilled lives, improved life choices, a reduction in offending and safer communities.
  • Take responsibility for completing all essential support tasks as a Support Worker whilst maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Special Requirements: The post holder will be expected to be part of a 4 week rolling rota which will include working weekends and bank holidays. You will be expected to complete on average 6/7 sleep‑ins a month, you will be paid additionally £97.24 per sleep in.
  • Our staff safety comes first, our enhanced security policy and measurements ensure that all staff is protected during their shift.
You will ideally have:
  • Experience and relevant knowledge of the needs of ex‑offenders and vulnerable people and how these needs can be met.
  • Confident to work within a small team as well as being a lone worker.
  • Be proficient in using Microsoft Office packages and maintaining accurate written records.
  • A full Driving Licence and access to your own car is essential for this role.
  • Able to work as part of a rolling rota which will include weekend and bank holidays, you will be paid additionally for sleep‑ins.
