Job summary

GreenSquareAccord is recruiting a Support Worker for Ipstones Avenue, Birmingham. You will support residents with daily routines, encourage independence and help with daily living activities in a calm, respectful environment.

We seek caring individuals with experience in care for people with learning disabilities and mental health needs. Driving licence is preferred; we may require you to drive a 7-seater van when needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a care environment for people with learning disabilities and mental health issues.
  • Warm, friendly and patient demeanor with strong communication.
  • Open and honest character, respectful and inclusive of diversity.

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with residents, ensuring two-way, open communication.
  • Support residents with daily routines and activities of daily living.
  • Assist with mealtimes and personal care as needed.
  • Accurately report and record work activities.

Job Title - Support Worker
Location - Ipstones Avenue, Birmingham B33 9DZ
Hourly rate - £13.01ph
Contract type - Permenant
Working hours - 35 hours per week
Shift patterns - 7.15am - 2.45pm and 2.15pm - 9.45pm. working 5 days over 7 including weekends and bank holidays.

About the Service

Ipstones Avenue, a large bungalow in a quiet Birmingham cul-de-sac, is home to up to five residents with learning disabilities and complex needs. Staff are on hand around the clock to support and encourage residents to make choices and decisions in their everyday lives, increasing not only their confidence but also independence.

In your new role as Support Worker, you will:
  • Build relationships with residents, which are open and two way
  • Support residents to undertake their daily routines
  • Establish methods of communication with residents, reducing barriers when necessary
  • Accurately report and/or record work activities
  • Support with activities of daily living & personal care
  • Assist residents with mealtimes where necessary.
As Support Worker, you will ideally have:
  • Experience working within a care environment for people with learning difficulties and mental health issues
  • A warm hearted, friendly manner, patience, kindness and good communication, a willingness to help others, requiring patience
  • An open and honest character, respectful and celebrate diversity, connect with colleagues and residents to celebrate uniqueness
  • The ability to be a natural care giver and someone who can communicate in an open and honest manner with your colleagues, residents and their visitors
  • Driving licence is preferred, and willing to drive a 7 seater mini van
