Job summary

Windwhistle Primary School in Weston-super-Mare seeks a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to deliver learning activities and supervise classes when teachers are absent. You will support pupils with diverse learning needs, plan interventions with teachers and monitor progress, contributing to assessments.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years' experience working within a school environment.
• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent qualification in education or child development.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices.
• Confidently lead learning activities and support whole-class teaching.

Responsibilities

• Deliver learning activities to individuals, small groups and whole classes under the guidance of teaching staff.
• Supervise classes during teacher absence and support continuity of learning.
• Work with teachers to plan, adapt and deliver learning interventions.
• Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEND.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to assessment processes.
• Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing, independence and inclusion.
• Collaborate with school staff, parents and external agencies to achieve best outcomes for pupils.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school and support our positive school culture.

Education

Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent

Paediatric First Aid qualification

Foundation Degree (advantage)

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - advantageous
