Job summary

Windwhistle Primary School in Weston-super-Mare is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support high-quality teaching and help children reach their full potential.

The HLTA will deliver learning activities, supervise classes, and work with teachers to plan and deliver interventions. The role requires at least four years of school experience and Level 3 TA qualification, with strong safeguarding knowledge and a commitment to inclusion.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years of experience working within a school environment.
• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent in education or child development.
• Strong safeguarding and child protection knowledge and practices.
• Ability to confidently lead learning activities and support whole-class teaching.
• Experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs.
• Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive, adaptable and able to use initiative.

Responsibilities

• Deliver learning activities to individuals, small groups and whole classes under teacher guidance.
• Supervise classes during teacher absence and support continuity of learning.
• Collaborate with teachers to plan, adapt and deliver interventions.
• Support pupils with a range of needs including SEND.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and contribute to assessment.
