Job summary

Aspire People is recruiting a Higher Level Teaching Assistant for an inclusive primary school in North Manchester. The HLTA will take day-to-day responsibility for the Inclusion Base, lead the team, and plan engaging sessions for pupils with additional needs.

The ideal candidate holds an HLTA qualification or equivalent and has experience in a primary setting, especially with SEND. A calm, nurturing approach and independence are essential. ECTs may be considered.

Qualifications

• HLTA qualification or equivalent higher-level education qualification.
• Experience in a primary school setting.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND is highly desirable.
• Experience with autism, communication needs or specialist provision would be beneficial.
• Calm, nurturing and consistent approach.
• Able to use initiative and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Taking day-to-day responsibility for the Inclusion Base.
• Leading and supporting the team working within the provision.
• Planning and delivering engaging sessions for a small group of pupils.
• Supporting pupils with SEND and communication needs.
• Helping pupils develop confidence, engagement and independence.
• Supporting phonics, reading and wider curriculum activities.
• Adapting learning and activities to meet individual pupil needs.
• Monitoring and celebrating pupil progress.
• Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Working closely with the lead teacher, SENCO and wider school team.
• Helping develop the learning environment and resources.

Aspire People are recruiting a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join an inclusive primary school in North Manchester, supporting pupils within a specialist Inclusion Base.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HLTA who is confident taking responsibility for a provision and working closely with a lead teacher to create engaging learning opportunities for pupils with additional needs.

The Role:

• Taking day-to-day responsibility for the Inclusion Base


• Leading and supporting the team working within the provision

The Ideal Candidate:

• Confident leading other staff and taking responsibility for a provision


• Strong understanding of child development and learning


• Calm, nurturing and consistent approach


• Able to use initiative and work independently

ECTs or suitably qualified education professionals with an equivalent level of qualification and the right experience may also be considered.

The Opportunity:

• 37.5 hours per week


• Term-time only


• Long-term position through Aspire People


• Potential for a permanent contract after 12 weeks for the right candidate, subject to both the school and candidate being happy with the placement
