Job summary

Aspire People are working with an inclusive primary school in North Manchester who are looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support pupils within their Inclusion Base.

The role involves supporting pupils with autism and communication needs, planning engaging learning sessions, and assisting with early communication and foundational learning. 37.5 hours per week, term-time only, long-term to permanent.

Qualifications

• HLTA qualification or equivalent is required.
• Experience working with children in a primary setting is essential.
• SEND experience, particularly autism, is highly desirable.
• EYFS or specialist settings experience is beneficial.
• Strong understanding of child development and a nurturing approach.

Responsibilities

• Leading day-to-day provision within the Inclusion Base.
• Supporting pupils with autism and communication needs.
• Planning and delivering practical, engaging learning sessions.
• Supporting early communication and foundational learning.
• Delivering phonics and reading activities where appropriate.
• Adapting activities to individual pupil needs.
• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Understanding behaviour as a form of communication.
• Working with the lead teacher to develop provision.
• Supporting and guiding other team members.
• Monitoring pupil progress and development.
• Providing personal care and toileting support when required.

North Manchester Full-Time Long-Term to Permanent Aspire People

Aspire People are working with an inclusive primary school in North Manchester who are looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support pupils within their Inclusion Base.

The provision supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including children with autism who are developing their communication, engagement and foundational learning skills.

This role would suit an experienced HLTA who is passionate about SEND and wants to play a key role in creating a nurturing and supportive environment for pupils who require a different approach to learning.

The Role:

• Leading day-to-day provision within the Inclusion Base
• Supporting pupils with autism and communication needs
• Planning and delivering practical, engaging learning sessions
• Supporting early communication and foundational learning
• Delivering phonics and reading activities where appropriate
• Adapting activities around individual pupil needs
• Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour
• Understanding behaviour as a form of communication
• Working alongside the lead teacher to develop provision
• Supporting and guiding other members of the team
• Monitoring pupil progress and development
• Supporting personal care and toileting where required

The Ideal Candidate:

• HLTA qualification or equivalent higher-level qualification
• Strong experience working with children in a primary setting
• SEND experience, particularly autism, is highly desirable
• Experience within EYFS, specialist settings or alternative provision would be beneficial
• Strong understanding of child development
• Nurturing, patient and consistent approach
• Confident building strong relationships with pupils who may have communication difficulties
• Able to lead by example and work collaboratively with teaching staff

The school may also consider an ECT or suitably qualified candidate with an equivalent level of qualification who is looking to develop their experience within specialist SEND provision.
