Job summary

Long Term Futures Ltd is partnering with a Chesterfield secondary academy to recruit a Higher Level Teaching Assistant. You will support pupils aged 11-18, focusing on Foundation Learning and SEND needs to help them access the curriculum and achieve progress.

The role requires HLTA-holding or progress toward HLTA, NVQ3 or equivalent, GCSEs in English and Maths, and a collaborative, proactive approach to improving learner outcomes.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, equivalent qualification, or relevant education experience.
• HLTA status is desirable, though candidates working towards it will be considered.
• GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above, with strong literacy and numeracy skills.
• Good knowledge of the National Curriculum and strategies for additional learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils alongside the Foundation Learning Lead and teaching staff to access the secondary curriculum.
• Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND and additional learning needs.
• Deliver interventions and learning activities, adapting resources to meet individual pupil needs.
• Monitor pupil progress and feed back to teachers to inform future support.
• Support pupils' academic progress as well as social and emotional development.
