Job summary

Aspire People is working with an inclusive primary school in North Manchester, seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support pupils within their Inclusion Base.

The role focuses on autism and communication needs, with responsibilities to plan and deliver engaging sessions, support early learning, phonics, and behaviour, while collaborating with the teaching staff to monitor progress and development.

Qualifications

• HLTA qualification or equivalent higher-level qualification.
• Strong experience working with children in a primary setting.
• SEND experience, particularly autism, is highly desirable.
• Experience within EYFS, specialist settings or alternative provision would be beneficial.
• Strong understanding of child development.
• Nurturing, patient and consistent approach.
• Confident building strong relationships with pupils who may have communication difficulties.
• Able to lead by example and work collaboratively with teaching staff.

Responsibilities

• Leading day-to-day provision within the Inclusion Base
• Supporting pupils with autism and communication needs
• Planning and delivering practical, engaging learning sessions
• Supporting early communication and foundational learning
• Delivering phonics and reading activities where appropriate
• Adapting activities around individual pupil needs
• Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour
• Understanding behaviour as a form of communication
• Working alongside the lead teacher to develop provision
• Supporting and guiding other members of the team
• Monitoring pupil progress and development
• Supporting personal care and toileting where required
