Job summary

TeacherActive is working with a well-established independent school in Worksop to appoint a History Teacher from November 2026 on a full-time, long-term basis to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will plan and deliver History lessons across Key Stages, maintain high teaching standards and manage classrooms effectively.

QTS or ECTs welcome; strong history knowledge and enthusiasm are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or provisional QTS for ECTs.
• Experience teaching History within a secondary school setting.
• Strong subject knowledge of the History curriculum.
• Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
• Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons for different abilities.

Responsibilities

Salary: £174 - £240 per day

The school is looking to appoint a dedicated History Teacher from November 2026 on a full-time, long-term basis to cover maternity leave. The successful History Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging History lessons across a combination of Key Stages, assessing student progress and maintaining high standards of teaching and classroom management.

The successful History Teacher will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status / QTS (ECTs are also welcome to apply)

• Experience teaching History within a secondary school setting

• Strong subject knowledge and a sound understanding of the History curriculum

• Excellent classroom management and organisational skills

• The ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons that cater to different abilities

• A positive, adaptable and enthusiastic approach to teaching
