Job summary

Integrated Pathology Solutions LLP is an innovative joint-venture Pathology service between Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust, Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This partnership delivers high-quality Pathology services through collaboration between three Trusts for the benefit of patients and service users. The successful candidate will be employed directly by Harrogate Hospital.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Secretary to join our Histopathology Team at Harrogate & District Hospital. The Histopathology laboratory provides a clinically led diagnostic Histopathology and Non-Gynae Cytology service to HDFT.

The successful candidate will work closely with other Histopathology secretarial colleagues to provide an efficient and effective secretarial service for the department. The post-holder must perform all secretarial and administrative duties required to support and ensure continuity of service within the Histopathology Department.

The post is for up to 30 hours per week.

Main duties of the job
  1. Undertake all secretarial and administrative duties required by the Histopathology Department, following the Department's standard operating procedures and meeting standards for timeliness and accuracy.
  2. Produce histopathology and cytology reports using audio, dictation, and word processing systems.
  3. Organize, attend, produce, and circulate minutes and documentation for Histopathology Department meetings and ad hoc meetings.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Good general education; GCSE or equivalent in English and Mathematics.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Experience of audio typing/word processing.
  • Good command of written English.

Desirable:

  • Secretarial qualifications up to RSA3, ITQ Level 2, ECDL, CLAIT, or equivalent.
  • Experience in NHS hospital and/or Pathology environment.
  • Medical terminology knowledge.
