Driver Hire in Bury St Edmunds is seeking a Hire Desk Manager to join our team. The role involves leading the day-to-day Hire Desk and Transport function, recruiting and developing staff, and driving add-on sales while ensuring stock availability.

You will work Monday to Friday, 45 hours per week, with a salary of £32,000–£35,000 plus performance bonuses up to £5,000, overtime paid, holiday entitlement, and a referral bonus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of the Hire Desk and Transport function.
• Recruit and develop team members & ensure adequate staffing cover.
• Drive add-on sales by promoting consumables and accessories.
• Oversee stock control of consumables and resale items, ensuring availability and re-ordering.
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of on-hires, off-hires, exchanges, and transport activity using company systems.
• Monitor transport performance to ensure deliveries and collections meet agreed timescales.
• Resolve customer queries & hire issues efficiently.
• Work closely with the Workshop Manager to manage equipment availability and hire readiness.
• Review key reports (hire, credit notes, live hire, customer).
• Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety standards and safe systems of work.
