Job summary

Valued Hire Group in Woking is seeking an experienced Hire Controller to join our growing team. You will manage day-to-day hire of tools, plant and equipment, handle enquiries and bookings, and prepare quotations.

The role requires strong customer service, excellent organisation, and the ability to prioritise and manage multiple hires. Experience in tool/plant hire or construction is essential, with good IT and administration skills and a proactive problem-solving approach.

• Managing the day-to-day hire of tools, plant and equipment
• Taking and processing customer hire enquiries and bookings
• Preparing hire quotations and confirming orders
• Coordinating deliveries and collections
• Liaising with customers, drivers, suppliers and depot teams
• Monitoring equipment availability and utilisation
• Processing hire contracts, extensions and off-hires
• Dealing with customer queries and resolving issues promptly
• Ensuring all hire records and paperwork are accurate and up to date
• Supporting the wider team with the smooth running of the hire operation

About You

We are looking for someone who is organised, reliable, customer-focused and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Previous experience in tool hire, plant hire, equipment rental or construction is essential.

You should also have:

• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail
• The ability to prioritise and manage multiple hires
• Good IT and administration skills
• A proactive approach to problem-solving
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team

Experience using OnRent software would be advantageous, although full training will be provided on our systems.
