Job summary

M Group Highways in the UK is recruiting a capable Highway Maintenance Supervisor to support our growing programme of planned and reactive works. You will lead on-site teams, manage daily targets and ensure safe, on-time delivery within budget.

You’ll work closely with our commercial and area teams, develop buildability reviews, monitor costs and progress, and uphold our safety culture through tool-box talks and daily briefings.

Qualifications

• A good level of experience in construction delivery and workforce supervision.
• Commercially driven to capture working cost efficiencies and save money for mutual benefit.
• Desirable highway maintenance experience with CSCS, NRSWA and SSSTS.
• Strong team management, leadership, and influencing skills.
• Excellent customer skills and ability to influence in all situations.
• Good IT skills, ideally MS Excel and other systems.
• Flexible approach to drive change across delivery teams.

Responsibilities

• Undertake pre-works reviews to ensure buildability.
• Monitor operational gross margins from planning to on-site delivery.
• Establish estimates with commercial team based on schedule of rates.
• Set programme targets and monitor progress and costs.
• Ensure safety and quality, delivering on time and within budget.
• Manage gangs daily, provide developmental reviews and safety briefings.
• Communicate progress and resource needs using project systems.

You’ll be joining our Highways maintenance team, as the UK’s number one highway maintenance contractor, our teams use the latest innovations to create effective solutions. We offer a range of services including planned and reactive maintenance and highway improvement schemes.

What will you be doing?

You’ll undertake pre-works reviews to ensure buildability.

Continual focus on operational gross margins of all work that you are delivering, from the pre-works planning stage, to on-site supervision.

You’ll be working with our commercial team, establish estimates based on an agreed schedule of rates.

Establishing a target scheme programme and monitor your works, review and hot cost progress.

You’ll monitor all works activities to ensure the programme remains on track, of the right quality and is being delivered in a safe manner.

You’ll also match resource needs to ensure the programme delivers on time and budget and provide regular updates on ASTA (programmes) and Causeway (costing) or any other specific systems.

We’ll ask you to manage the gangs daily, setting work targets, undertaking regular developmental reviews, and dealing with all issues that may arise with support from the Area Manager. deliver tool-box-talks and any safety briefing’s as they arise. Deliver communication plan as agreed in annual improvement imitative.’

You’ll assist with the delivery of our winter maintenance and out of hours operations.

What you’ll bring

• - A good level of experience in construction delivery and workforce supervision.
• - Commercially driven to be able to capture working cost efficiencies, cost control and saving money wherever possible for the mutual benefit of the client and Milestone.
• - Experience within the highway maintenance industry would be desirable, along with CSCS, NRSWA and SSSTS.
• - Effective team management, leadership, motivational and influencing skills to get the best from everyone.
• - Excellent customer skills and the ability to demonstrate influencing in all situations.
• - Good general IT skills are essential. Ideally proficient in MS Excel, and any other specific systems.
• - The ability to remain flexible in your approach to the role whilst embracing change and helping to drive that change through the wider teams and through into the delivery.
