Job summary

M Group Highways is recruiting for highway maintenance on a UK-wide basis, including Abingdon. You will perform road maintenance, traffic management and vegetation control while prioritising safety and efficiency.

The role offers opportunities to grow within a leading highway contractor and to work with the latest innovations in infrastructure services. We value safety, teamwork and proactive communication as you help deliver reliable roads and safer communities.

Qualifications

• Maintenance knowledge of surfacing, kerbing and drainage materials and techniques.
• Ability to safely operate rollers, excavators and breakers.
• Strong site health and safety awareness, PPE use and risk assessments.
• Teamwork: Works effectively with colleagues, supervisors and contractors.
• Clear verbal communication for reporting hazards and following instructions.
• Time management to complete tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Road maintenance and repairs: pothole filling, resurfacing and patching.
• Traffic management: install and maintain temporary traffic controls.
• Follow health and safety regulations and wear PPE on site.
• Vegetation management: cut back overgrown vegetation near highways.
• Operate and maintain equipment and tools safely on site.

You’ll be joining our Highways maintenance team, as the UK’s number one highway maintenance contractor, our teams use the latest innovations to create effective solutions. We offer a range of services including planned and reactive maintenance and highway improvement schemes.

What will you be doing?

You'll be doing road maintenance and repairs - Carrying out routine and emergency repairs on roads, pavements, and highways, including pothole filling, resurfacing, and patching.

Traffic management, where you will be installing and maintaining temporary traffic management systems such as cones, signs, barriers, and lights to ensure safety during works.

We'll ask you to following all relevant health and safety regulations, wearing appropriate PPE, and ensuring safe working practices on site.

You'll be doing vegetation Management, by cutting back overgrown vegetation, hedges, and trees near highways to maintain visibility and safety.

Use and Maintenance of Equipment when operating machinery such as rollers, excavators, and breakers, and ensuring tools and equipment are maintained and stored correctly.
