Job summary

Sefton Council is seeking an experienced candidate to join the Highway Network Management Team within the Highways and Public Protection Department. The role focuses on site-based inspections of new developments and infrastructure to ensure compliance with approved highway specifications and adoptable standards.

Knowledge of Section 38 and 278 processes is required. The post holder will supervise 38 and 278 works, maintain detailed site-visit records, and enforce the Highways Act 1980, while

Qualifications

• Must have knowledge of the Section 38 and Section 278 agreement process.
• Detailed knowledge of highway construction materials.
• Understanding of traffic management requirements for safe highway works.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Section 38 works on the highway.
• Supervise Section 278 works on the highway.
• Maintain detailed records of all site visits.
• Ensure compliance with Chapter 8 and related codes of practice.
• Enforce the Highways Act 1980.
• Respond to enquiries from Councillors and the public.
