Job summary

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is seeking a proactive Highways Enforcement Officer to join our Highways Service. You will investigate highway issues, enforce regulations, liaise with utilities and the public, and forward compliance actions to ensure safety and statutory duties are met.

Qualifications

• Experience in highways, street works, enforcement or regulatory services.
• Strong communication and negotiation with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Undertake inspections and investigations relating to unauthorised activities, obstructions and other compliance issues affecting the highway network.
• Monitor and enforce compliance with highways and street works legislation, Council policies and permit requirements.
• Liaise with utility companies, contractors, developers, businesses and the public to resolve highway-related issues and secure compliance.
• Gather evidence, maintain accurate records and prepare reports to support enforcement actions and regulatory processes.
• Respond to customer enquiries and provide professional advice on highway legislation and matters.
• Support the Council's network management duties by minimising disruption and protecting highway assets.
